How we are tackling the COVID-19 situation

On top of the Prime Minister's and the Danish authorities' latest announcements, we have decided that it is justifiable to start teaching as planned from today, and registration is therefore open again.

On April 20, the Danish Sailing Union has also decided to change the recommendations to sailing clubs and surf clubs on how they should act during the Corona situation. A new guidance is made both in light of the recent more positive signals from the authorities and a significant desire from sailing clubs, surf clubs and certified kite schools to get started with the spring season. In addition, the recommendations are based on a thorough discussion with representatives of other outdoor sports and the Danish Sports Confederation (DIF).

In other words, kite schools can open for activities.
We consider it as due diligence that kite schools at least inform students that in certain situations during beginner courses there is close body contact and thus risk of infection. Kite schools should inform students that they should not participate in courses if they are at risk of severe disease progression. Kite schools should also inform that instructors and students must show community spirit by refraining from participating in courses if they have even the slightest symptoms of Corona.

Danish Sailing Union can of course change our guidance / attitude depending on the authorities' announcements. Overall, sport has very extensive activities in society. Therefore, it is important that sailors, surfers, clubs and kite schools contribute to reducing the spread of infection. Otherwise, there is a risk of a rapid backlash from the authorities and thus a shutdown of activities.

Outdoors

  • The ban on gathering in large groups must be respected.
  • As much distance as possible should be kept.
  • Everyone takes responsibility for their own health and shows consideration for others.
  • All hygiene advice from health authorities is followed.
  • People with symptoms of illness, health impairments or advanced age should not participate.
  • Equipment and suits are rinsed/cleaned between use by different people.
  • Suits are typically used by several people. Therefore, there should be at least 60 hours between the use of suits by different persons to reduce the risk of infection.
